The Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS), developed by Professor(s) W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne is based on the idea of the simultaneous pursuit of differentiation and low-cost factors.
BOS aims to make the competition irrelevant by reconstructing industry boundaries. It offers systematic tools and frameworks to break away from the competition and create a blue ocean of uncontested market space – where rules of the game are waiting to be set.
With strategic formulation process such as “Steps to Visualizing Strategy”, BOS helps to develop a new strategy by understanding and analyzing the industry and exploring and integrating new opportunities into the market.
As an integrated approach, BOS aligns the three strategy propositions – value, profit, and people – therefore creating a win-win situation for buyers, the company, and for employees and stakeholder.
