ENTREPRENEURS in need of motivation can look forward to inspiring stories at the Malaysia SME Congress 2013 which will be held at Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam on July 3.
Malaysia SME chief executive officer Wayne Lim said the congress would be featuring three new speakers in addition to the previous 12 speakers, sharing life experiences and challenges in business.
“The speakers include FLY Entertainment Pte Ltd founder and chief executive officer Irene Ang, who is better known as Rosie Phua of Singaporean sitcom Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd. The other two new speakers are Enfiniti Vision Media group president Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina and Skybus Ventures Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Chris S. Thiagarajah,” said Lim.
He said as SMEs make up 99% of total business establishments in Malaysia, it was important to create a platform to help them grow and develop their businesses, apart from tapping the fundamentals and techniques to start or enhance their enterprises.
Speaking on the theme ‘Inspiring’ selected for this year’s congress, Lim said the route to entrepreneurship was inspirational and could serve as motivation to others.
“We believe that SME owners need to be inspired in order to sustain where are they are right now, as they create a large number of job opportunities in the market,” said Lim.
He added that due to the demand of participants in the last congress, mentoring sessions would be conducted by past speakers.
The congress will be officiated by SME Corporation Malaysia chairman Datuk Dr Mohamed Al Amin Abdul Majid and closed by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation chairman Datuk Mah Siew Keong.
The annual one-day event, endorsed by the International Trade and Industry Ministry, is expected to draw 1,000 participants. Admission is free.
The event is made possible with sponsorships from Hong Leong Bank, DHL Express, Telekom Malaysia and AXA Affin General Insurance.
